One of the standout aspects of this book is its portrayal of personal transformation. Rowan's character development is beautifully nuanced. As she immerses herself in the vibrant Spanish culture, readers witness her gradual shift from doubt and insecurity to newfound self-assurance. This transformation is a testament to the power of stepping out of one's comfort zone and embracing life's unpredictability.
Van Ombergen-Jong's vivid descriptions of Spain and its culture are a highlight of the book. Readers are transported to the sun-soaked streets of Ronda, the bustling markets, and the charming cafes. It's a sensory experience that adds depth and authenticity to the narrative.
The central theme of trusting one's instincts and taking risks is woven throughout the story. Rowan's decision to follow a chance encounter at the beach leads her on a path of self-discovery and adventure. It's a reminder that life's most profound experiences often come when we let go of rigid plans and embrace spontaneity.
The supporting cast of characters adds depth and authenticity to the story. Rowan's interactions with locals and fellow travelers provide a glimpse into the diverse tapestry of human connections that can be forged during a gap year abroad.

This book has inspired me to pursue my dreams. It was really easy to read and get hooked. The main character, Rowan, doesn't know what to do after graduating and she decides to take a gap year in Spain. The book tells you about her decisions and feeling during this adventure. I can totally identify with her. It has taught me that not everything goes as planned and that you should trust your feelings and follow the signs. I feel that this book was definitely a sign for me, and for everyone that is thinking about taking some time for themselves.
