Who am I?
Joyce van Ombergen-Jong
My name is Joyce, and since 2008 I’ve been living with my husband and our now grown-up children in the countryside near the amazing city of Málaga in southern Spain. Yes indeed, the place where the sun shines more than 300 days a year!

How did I end up there?
There was once a dream, an accident, and a generous dose of naivety and courage. You especially need the latter two if you want to emigrate.
That courage wasn’t always there. In fact, during my secondary school years I was a sensitive, creative girl with a rather unusual combination of subjects in my HAVO programme, such as maths, economics, and four languages. I truly had no idea which study programme I should choose. On TV, I saw a commercial encouraging girls to choose a technical profession, which appealed to me. But at the same time, the field of fashion and clothing also seemed interesting to me.

Mind vs. intuition
I chose an IT degree based on logic rather than feeling, a decision I have never regretted. I secretly found it quite empowering to hold my own among all those men, often as the only woman. ![]()
Years later, after an accident, I started listening more to my heart. I wanted to use my creative side more and give meaning to what had happened to me. I retrained and started working as an online coach. My very first Skype consultation was with a student who had made the wrong study choice!
Working with young people
For several years now, I have been focusing mainly on people your age. I guide students during their internships in Málaga and support them with the challenges they face. I’ve noticed that more and more young people struggle with making choices about their studies and careers.

“You don’t yet really know who you are, what you’re good at, or what truly makes you happy. I get incredibly happy guiding people through this search. Through coaching and online programmes, I help you find your own answers.”

I want to be the person I myself would have wanted in my life when I was young and had to make important choices. Someone who tells me it’s okay not to know what I want to do “when I grow up.” Someone who reassures me and holds up a mirror so I can see who I truly am. Someone who assures me that it doesn’t really matter which study or job I choose, because I’m allowed to choose again many times throughout my life. Someone who helps me realise that it’s more important to first know who I am and what I stand for than to be guided by what others think is best for me.
Someone who wakes me up, challenges me, and with humour leads me to the answer that turns out to already be inside me. Someone who believes in the power of falling flat on your face.
But above all, someone who helps me take responsibility for a healthy, happy, and meaningful life.

I have completed various training programmes, including NLP coaching, intuitive coaching, breathwork, trauma release, hypnosis, and Time Line Therapy.
My qualities
I listen well, have a positive outlook on life, and possess a strong intuition (my superpower), which allows me to quickly sense what you need. This also helps me get to the core very quickly during coaching sessions.
